UTSA brings Roadrunner spirit to 2024 Corporate Cup
This year’s San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup main event was held Saturday, June 1 at the University of the Incarnate Word. Potential rain and promised Texas heat were no deterrent for UTSA employees who attended the event to volunteer, participate in sporting events, or simply score some great swag and show their Roadrunner pride as they cheered for Team UTSA.
In addition to giving employees a chance to have some fun, UTSA’s participation in Corporate Cup showcases the university’s commitment to enhance the employee experience through innovative initiatives such as its robust employee wellness programming.
Corporate Cup is an annual Olympics-style event, often referred to as a “field day for adults,” that offers local employers the opportunity to come together and support each other as well as the San Antonio community through friendly competitions including a charity challenge, a T-shirt design contest and sporting events such as pickleball, dodgeball, tug-of-war, relay races and more. This year, over 7,500 players and spectators attended the main event to support the 83 participating teams.
One of the most popular Corporate Cup events is the RBFCU T-shirt Design Contest, which runs for several weeks in May and invites participants and members of the public to vote online daily for their favorite team T-shirt design. This year, UTSA’s “One Team, One Dream” T-shirt design was a great success, earning 11,760 total votes and ranking third place out of 19 teams in its division.
While Team UTSA also scored well for the 2k walk, soccer kicks and football throw events, the teamwork, camaraderie and fun of the day ultimately made every attendee feel like a grand prize winner.
Next year’s Corporate Cup main event is scheduled for May 31, 2025.
