Windows 11 is Microsoft's newest operating system, offering improved performance, enhanced security, new features, and a sleeker, modern look.
OVERALL PERFORMANCE
One of the main differences between Windows 10 and Windows 11 is improved overall performance, including speedier browsing, quicker wakeups from sleep mode, and faster logins.
NEW USER INTERFACE
Compared to the Windows 10 user interface, Windows 11 is sleeker and more refined. The Start button has been moved to the center of the screen, and the menus have muted colors and rounded corners that give it a similar appearance to Mac OS.
RIGHT-CLICKING MENU
Where possible, Windows 11 replaces most-used functions with icons instead of words. For example, when you right-click a file, you will now see icons in place of functions like "cut," "copy," "rename," and "delete."
If you prefer the classic menu, simply click "Show more options" to display it. Alternatively, you can hold Shift when you right-click to display the classic menu options automatically.
TASKBAR CHANGES
Windows 11 features a sleeker taskbar that includes new features:
- icons only: The taskbar now only includes application icons, not labels or words.
- notification badges: Just like on your mobile device, application icons now include notification badges alerting you to new messages and other activity.
- hidden show desktop button: On the very far right corner of your taskbar, you will find a small vertical line. Click this (or press the Windows logo key + D) to show the desktop.
NOTIFICATIONS MENU
For a sleeker look, Windows 11 has moved your notifications menu. To view your notifications, simply click the date/time on the taskbar or press the Windows logo key + N.
