The Colors of UTSA Midnight Light

On Monday, August 25, 2014, UTSA will host the “Inaugural UTSA Midnight Light” as a part of Roadrunner Days. The event celebrates the official lighting of the Monument at our UTSA Main Campus and Dr. Ricardo Romo is scheduled to flip the switch at midnight, marking a new tradition in the Roadrunner campus life.

I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait to witness this event! Sitting in front of the monument with my family and friends, at the main entrance of our UTSA Main Campus, checking out all of the beautiful colors being reflected on the stunning monument – green, gold, blue, and orange; the thought alone brings goose bumps to my skin! I know it sounds cheesy but so many departments and individuals came together in order to make this project happen and I’m so happy that it is finally here! From the approval for the construction of the monument to the installation of the lights, several different departments and divisions collaborated together and, truthfully, I can’t wait to be a part of it.

Celebrating lights and colors is not unusual within our Student Affairs division; in fact, we celebrate colors 365 days a year via True Colors. From learning about the importance of how Golds prefer to communicate to acknowledging and appreciating a Green’s creativity, UTSA Student Affairs embraces colors every day, because we realize connecting and understanding each other is a baseline ingredient for success.

I encourage you and your friends and family to attend this inaugural event, as our entire community rejoices with music and good fun in celebrating how different colors, blending and shining together, can truly make something beautiful. For more information, please visit UTSA Midnight Light.

Has your color spectrum changed over the years? How?

Describe those changes to your colleagues. Remember True Colors is a tool to understanding others and ourselves. It is a common language because we talk about it and use it to articulate our perspectives to each other. Keep it going.
