Student Success Report

Student success is the focus of many current initiatives, both curricular and co-curricular, with the goal of helping students reach the milestone of graduation. All departments and offices in Student Affairs have the potential to positively contribute to student success. Although we cannot definitively say that our excellent programs and services solely cause students to be successful, we can track and compare the success rates of the students we impact to reinforce the work we do.

We now have a report template that can be utilized by any department in Student Affairs to track this! The Student Success Report is produced by the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) for a specified group or organization of students, providing:

• Term Grade Point Average (GPA)
• Term Semester Credit Hours (SCH)
• Success Rate
• Time to Degree

For this report, students participating in a group/organization are compared with the non-participating students in the overall UTSA population within the same classification (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior). Some examples of groups of students that could be included are:

• Orientation Leaders
• Scholarship recipients
• Student employees
• Resident Assistants
• Students participating in leadership programs
• Students participating in student organizations
• Students participating in Campus Recreation programs
• Students utilizing services such as Disability Services, Health Services, or Counseling Services
• Internship students
• Students in special programs such as Top Scholars or Veterans
• Student Athletes
