Snapshots Announcements Spotlight UTSA Athletics

Welcome to September! The new academic year is in full swing. As you walk on our campuses, you can see the activity level has really picked up. The dust has settled from Roadrunner Days and the start of classes and, for many of you, it means that the semester has hit a rhythm - good or bad.

Our first home football game was incredible. I must admit that I am quite the football fan, but even if you aren’t that game was exciting. Our student section was electric and the excitement was contagious. After the game, I heard Larry Coker give an interview where he called UTSA Football a no excuses program.

No Excuses. I like it.

I believe that is also a great description for how we work in Student Affairs. We may not have the ability to increase resources in every area, but our programs and services reach excellence anyway. There are no excuses. There is no reason not to be the best, and there is no reason not to give it your all each and every day. Our students deserve it. We have proved over and over again that, no matter what, we can make it happen.

Now that the dust has settled from the beginning of the term, don’t lose momentum. I liken it to being in a fast race with two hands placed firmly on the steering wheel. Stay on the gas pedal and don’t let go of the wheel. Your best choice is to keep driving and stay in the race.

Make no excuses.

I would like to hear more about how you are keeping the momentum going and making no excuses. Send me an email (vpsa@utsa.edu) and let me know.

Best wishes,

Sam
