Happy New Assessment Year!

As we complete one academic year and kick off a new one, it is time to review the information you are collecting about your programs and services. Assessment for the sake of assessment is meaningless. It should help you improve your programs/services. That is the goal!

So, are you getting the information you need to make decisions? Are you getting useful feedback? How do you use the input you collect? Here are three options of guides that might help you to answer these questions with your team.

Assessment Guide Option 1

List the ways you currently get feedback.Which program/service is each assessment tied to?What overall goal is supported by each program/service?Where are the gaps?

Assessment Guide Option 2

List all programs/services.What overall goal is supported by each program/service?How do you get feedback about this program/service currently? How should you get feedback about this program’s/service’s effectiveness?

Assessment Guide Option 3

What are your overall goals (operational and student learning)?Which programs/ services support each goal? How do you get information that shows this program’s/service’s support for this goal? How should you get feedback about this program’s/service’s effectiveness?

If I can support your team in making your assessment more meaningful, please let me know.

See you next month!
