2015 UTSA Homecoming T-Shirts Now Available!

The 2015 UTSA Homecoming theme is “Rowdy Around the World,” to celebrate the variety of cultures and groups that make up our Roadrunner Nation, as well as welcome home our alumni from all around the world!

Each year the official UTSA Homecoming shirt is designed by a UTSA student and sold exclusively in the Roadrunner Express Store (next to Rios Salon on the UC Paseo). The shirt is available in various sizes — including youth — so the whole family can show their spirit and pride!

The shirts are $10.00 and bulk purchase discounts are available. This shirt is a limited edition and will only be available for a short time, so don’t miss out!

Proceeds from the sales of the Homecoming shirt support student programs and activities provided by the University Center.

Roadrunner Express accepts cash, checks with proper ID, major credit cards, and Interdepartmental Transfers (IDT’s). Roadrunner Express Downtown accepts the UTSACard only, and has a UTSACard recharge station nearby. For information regarding the shirts, please follow @THEUTSAUC or call 210-458-5099.

E-Verify Announcement

On June 10, 2015, Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill requiring state agencies and institutions of higher education to use E-Verify effective September 1, 2015. E-verify is the federal government’s internet based employment eligibility verification system and the I-9 Form is the key element of E-Verify. The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) requires completion of the I-9 form within 3 days of the start of employment. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in fines against the University by the federal government.

The new state law reinforces the importance of timely I-9 processing through Human Resources and therefore, Human Resources has been collaborating with faculty and staff groups to assist in facilitating the new processes. Human Resources will begin posting all staff and faculty positions and conduct “mini” orientations to process all new employees through Day ONE. It is imperative that every employee hired (including faculty, staff or student) report to Human Resources on their first day of employment to ensure timely completion of both their assignment processing and the I-9 Form. The E-verify system date stamps data entry of the I-9 information; I-9’s entered after the 3 day window will be considered late and UTSA will be subject to fines by the federal government. Therefore, all new employees must start work only after completion of the required processing through Human Resources. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Human Resources at (210) 458-4648.

Expanded After-Hours Counseling Services Program

UTSA Crisis Help LineThe UTSA community can contact Counseling Services at 210-458-4140 for support both during and after office hours. UTSA Counseling Services has offered after-hours on-call services since 2003, utilizing existing staff members. On-call services were previously accessed through UTSA Police Dispatch and so were limited to client crisis/emergency or police consultation.

Going forward, UTSA Counseling Services has contracted with ProtoCall, a leading provider of third-party telephone behavioral services, to provide after office hour counseling services. By contracting with ProtoCall, the entire UTSA Community will have immediate access to a qualified mental health professional 24/7. Protocall professionals are experienced with college student mental health and will have access to UTSA and San Antonio-specific information and resources. ProtoCall will alert UTSA Counseling Services of over-night calls so that staff members can provide timely follow-up.
